to keep momming on!
1. Colossians 3:20 Children obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord.
“Boom Baby, it’s in the Bible, Kids! Now suck it!” Just Kidding! (Kinda) But seriously, when I take the time to sit down and read this scripture to my children, they realize the importance of it. It’s my back up for when they think for a moment that they don’t need to obey. You know, like when they have a brain fart!?!? It’s my back up when I’m at my wits end and want to pull my hair out (scratch that… it’s my back up when I want to pull their hair out!) Their hearts hear the truth in this verse and it holds weight in their spirit. The Bible can be your support system!
2. Isaiah 1:19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land.
This is another scripture that I read to my kids. I explain it in terms they can understand, “If you have a good attitude and obey, then you get rewarded.” They get rewarded when they do what is right but they get even greater rewards when they are willing to do what is right!. I also have made it a confession in our home. We say, “I am willing and obedient!” I have them say it when they need to be reminded of it…. Like when they whine because I asked them to clean the playdough off the table for the fourth time!
Prov 31:10-31 (all of it is good and we can work on becoming a Proverbs 31 woman but for this blog post, I am picking my favorite verses, (cus’ well, it’s my blog post so I can do what I want! 😇)
3. Prov 31:17 She is energetic, strong and a hard worker
If it’s in the bible that means we can attain it. It means there is grace to achieve it! So we can Confess that we are ENERGETIC, STRONG, AND A HARD WORKER! 🏃♀️ 💪💰
4. Prov 31:26 When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.
We all need help on what to say to our children! We can totally be dumbfounded in certain situations while dealing with our kids, so having wise words is a HIUGE win for us moms! We also need kindness when delivering instruction to our children sometimes! When we feel like yelling God can grace us to use wise, kind words!
Thank you Lord, because sometimes these kids be testin’ the Jesus in me!
5. Prov 31:28 Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her.
One point I want to make is that they bless her! They bring blessing into her life, not shame or embarrassment! But blessing! A Good Bad Mom, momming the Bible way, has children who bless her! Woot Woot, yes please!
Second point is that they STAND and bless her. So, that means they are strong, capable, and brave! It also means they are proud to bless her. They are proud of her and want to show off how much they love her. Again, YES Please!
6. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Kids seem to deal with fear a lot. At least mine have dealt with fear from things on TV that scared them, scary life situations that just seem to happen and even bad dreams. It helps to have something for the kids to stand on during the dark moments that life can sometimes bring. This verse has helped my kids so much! We take this scripture and talk about what each word means. I have asked my kids, “What does POWER mean to you?”. “What does love mean and how does that help you against fear?” I helped my kids figure out what a sound mind could look like without fear. (Ask your kids what these words mean to them..It will be fun to hear their answers!) Then we confess it over and over again until our hearts get it. 🥊❤️🧠
7. John 3:16 For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
Obviously we could not have any list of scriptures without the single most known and important verse in the Bible. This was the first verse I memorize because it literally is life to all of us! It’s about showing how loved we are! If your kids can grasp how loved they are, they will do better and go farther in life! (If you mama, can grasp how loved you are then you’ll freakin ROCK this #momlife so hard!) I try to tell my kids often how much I love them but also how much God loves them. He sent Jesus to save us not judge us, not tell us how crappy our actions are but to loves us in spite of it! We simply have to believe in Him to be saved and have eternal life!
You are loved and forgiven! If you have not already decided to let God save you by letting Him be Lord in your life, you can do it right now. Romans 10:9-10 says, “if you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved for it is by believing in your heart that you were made right with God and it is by openly declaring your face that you are saved.”
By simply believing that Jesus died and rose again for you and declaring that you believe, then you will be saved! It is that simple. I pray that if you feel the need, you will decide today to believe and be able to enjoy the peace and love that comes from being a child of God. #SAVED
8. Proverbs 18:21a. The tongue can bring death or life…
There are times when we let the words fly from our mouth hole 👄 that should not have been spoken.🤬 When we as moms realize the severity of our words, it can help us to speak life words over our children and cut out the death words. 👩⚕️ vs. ⚰️
This scripture can also help when we it read to our children. Especially if they are are struggling with saying words that may not be appropriate.
9. Ephesians 1:16-17…I have not stopped thanking God for you, I pray for you constantly asking God the glorious father of our Lord Jesus Christ to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.
This is another one that I confess/pray all the time! There are major things that will come up in your mom life that will make you feel completely inadequate. (teething, potty training, the “me do it” phase, puberty, the teen years… just to name a few) But we can pray for spiritual wisdom and insight which means it's not on us to figure everything out! It means God can give us wisdom beyond our natural human momming abilities! THANK GOD! Otherwise why the crap did those doctors and nurses send me home with this baby?!?!
10. Ephesians 3:16 I pray that from his glorious unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.
“Moms are you tired? Exhausted? Pooped? (or maybe even constipated?) Then guess what? We have a miracle drug for you!“
Okay, enough of the fake infomercial. But seriously God has unlimited resources to empower you with strength. This is my go to when I feel weak and emotionally exhausted. It says it is “unlimited” which means we are only limited when we don't rely on his Spirit to strengthen us.
