Hear me roar:
1 Kings 1:15-17 Bathsheba went to the king in his chamber (now the king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite was attending to the king). Bathsheba bowed and paid homage to the king, and the king said, “What do you desire?” She said to him, “My lord, you swore to your servant by the Lord your God, saying, ‘Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.’
1 Kings 29-30 And the king swore, saying, “As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my soul out of every adversity, as I swore to you by the Lord, the God of Israel, saying, ‘Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place,’ even so will I do this day.
Bathsheba went to bat for her baby! She pleaded her sons case. If she had not gone to her husband, King David, one of his other sons would have become the next king. But “MAMA bear” happened and King Solomon went on to become one of the greatest and by far the richest king Israel had ever had..
You are who will step up to the plate for your child. You know the gifts and talents your child has. God gave us the right as moms to support, campaign, and advocate for our children. I encourage you to be aware that, even though it’s good for them to speak for themselves, at times its okay to be their spokesperson.
