Heart Words

What was the first thing you said after giving birth to your newborn baby?

The very first thing I said was “oh my gosh, I feel so much better already!” I didn’t say, “oh my gosh, he’s adorable” nor “omg, I am so in love”. Nope! Just, “I feel so much better!”

This is the God's honest truth! You could ask my mother-in-law, sister, mother and husband who were in the room and graciously just laughed at me instead of reprimanded me!

Sometimes the first thing we think, we spit out of our mouths, and it reveals what’s in our hearts. Sometimes we speak before we think and it is very telling.

I legit instantly felt 100 times better, even with a still very bloated tummy covered in stretch marks not to mention all the other not so lovely mom bod issues (cracks, tears and leaks...I know you feel me!). So out of this state of pure bliss from not being pregnant anymore came very true words! Out of this feeling of rainbows and butterflies came my HEART WORDS. (I am pretty sure my next words were something about how my baby didn’t have a mustache like everyone teased me he’d have👨‍👶)

During Jesus‘s state of agony and torture and eventual death on the cross, came heart words too. Straight from His heart out of His mouth, He spoke, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34 NLT.

This revealed his heart for humanity! His love for me right now! He exposed His love for you! Pain, depression, torment, stress, and pressure didn’t take his heart of us!

He was concerned about me all the while knowing about each and everyone of my sins. He was thinking of me with the knowing that my screw ups were the very reason He was on that cross. Sweating blood. Sweating BLOOD! I mean I think hot yoga is torture, sweating normal perspiration. But He was sweating freaking blood drops and still saying HEART WORDS for me!

“Father forgive them”, were His heart words.

What are your heart words?

Luke 23:33-43

33 Two others, both criminals, were led out to be executed with him. 33 When they came to a place called The Skull,[e] they nailed him to the cross. And the criminals were also crucified—one on his right and one on his left.

34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”[f]And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.[g]

35 The crowd watched and the leaders scoffed. “He saved others,” they said, “let him save himself if he is really God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”

36 The soldiers mocked him, too, by offering him a drink of sour wine.

37 They called out to him, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!”

38 A sign was fastened above him with these words: “This is the King of the Jews.”

39 One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while you’re at it!”

40 But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die?

41 We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.”

42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

43 And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
